Access To Land

United Kingdom
Soil Association Land Trust

The Soil Association Land Trust exists to protect the countryside by acquiring and managing farmland sustainably and to connect the public with the stewardship of the land.

The Land Trust owns four small traditional organic farms in Devon and Somerset, an 8 acre field in a village in Perthshire, Scotland and has a further 12 pledged farms over the next 10-20 years. The farms within the care of the Trust, both within our legal ownership and pledged to us, have been donated. The majority have and will come over with existing tenants. Wherever we can and when new land comes into the Trust, we will seek to provide opportunities for new farmers, growers and communities and help support them to develop sustainable thriving businesses.

By holding land in trust, the Land Trust not only prevents productive land being lost from farming and growing but brings peace of mind to retiring farmers and landowners who wish to ensure their life’s work is preserved and continues to develop into the future.

We will seek to provide opportunities for new farmers, growers and communities and we will help support them to develop sustainable thriving businesses. The Land Trust is part of the Soil Association family but is governed by its own Memorandum & Articles and its own board of Trustees.
