Access To Land
Regionalwert AG is a citizen shareholder company in in south west Germany, centred around Freiburg. It uses citizen finance to build up sustainable food and farming structures in the region. It invests at all stages of the suplly chain, from farm land to processing, distribution and logistics, retail, and research and services.
Since it was started by a farmer in 2006, it has raised over 3million euros from over 600 citizens that have now become shareholders. It is interested in enabling farm land purchase as the transfer of land to new farmers and creating viable farming business. So far 10 ha of land has been bought, with more than 250 ha of farmland in use in the network. It has now setting up similar strcutures around Munich and Hamburg.
