For 15 years, farmers’ unions and social movements have been involved in the process towards the "UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and other People Working in Rural Areas". The Declaration aims to create an international human rights instrument to improve the promotion and protection of their rights and draw attention to the threats and discrimination suffered by peasants and people involved in small-scale food production across the world.
The next step for negotiations of the Declaration before the UN Human Rights Council will take place in May 2017. But many European countries are so reluctant to promote advances with the Declaration, that it hampers the process.
Join the movement for Peasants’ Rights and ask the EU and its Member States to actively participate in good faith in the elaboration of a "UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and other People Working in Rural Areas".
