Access To Land

Danish Organic Farm Trust

The Danish Organic Farm Trust has been founded by The Danish Society for Nature Conservation and Organic Denmark (The Danish organic farm association). We want to make it possible for everybody to invest in organic farms. The business concept is to offer shares of approximately 3.300 Euro a piece (25.000 DKK).

The Trust has not been approved by the financial authorities yet, but we are in the process and we hope to be up and running in May of this year. We also hope to raise an initial 4.6 million Euro by the late summer (35 million DKK). This would enable us to start buying and leasing 5 farms.

The rationale behind the trust is to help turn more land into organic management and to enable young people to become farmers. Like most other countries, farming in Denmark is debt ridden and suffers from low world market prices for dairy and pork. This means that it is very difficult, or rather impossibel, for young farmers to buy farms.
