Cooperativa Agricoltura nuova, Italy
"From squatted land to a community-connected multifunctional cooperative farm"

A cooperative farm on the periphery of Rome, formed in 1977 following occupation of the land by a group of young people opposing urban development.

It is now a 250 ha mixed organic farm, geared towards on-farm processing and direct marketing and hosting a range of environmental and social activities. In 1996, it finally obtained a tenancy contract from the municipality of Rome, which has establised a regional park in the area surrounding the farm.
