On an elementary level agriculture links humans and environment. Agriculture is more than food production – it shapes our landscape and environment, impacts employment structures and determines the quantity and quality of what we eat and thereby our health. The current challenges for agriculture in Europe and the world are enormous: food sovereignty, food distribution, climate change, environmental degradation as well as social problems for farmers. The main question is: What kinds of agriculture do we want and how can solutions be put in place to address these challenges?
Agronauten are a non-profit association that researches and communicates many aspects related to food and farming culture – especially regional, organic agriculture and food systems that are viable for the future.
Thus Agronauten are working on topics like partnership models of producers and consumers, access to land for agroecological farmers and change of food and farming culture. The last point has gained importance in our work, so we are increasingly interested to use culture to change the way we eat and farm, see also www.agrikulturfestival.de for that.
